HOPEWARD. It may not exactly be a word found in the dictionary (yet), but it’s become real to me, and I’ve loved how many others it’s resonated with, too. It is a word the Holy Spirit dropped in my heart many years ago.
You won’t find an official definition in the dictionary, but here is the Andrea definition of Hopeward:
hope·ward
/ hōpwərd /
noun
1. a confident expectation and anticipation in the Lord while moving through life in a forward direction
2. a determination and endurance that chooses to camp out in the place of hope and believe, dream, and have faith concerning God’s ability and desire to do the miraculous
3. not allowing doubt or delay cause you to give up, give out, or stop short on seeing the fullness of His goodness fulfilled in your life
Ex: "she keeps moving hopeward"
One of my favorite scriptures is Psalm 27:13, “I would have lost heart, unless I had believed that I would see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.”
If we don’t learn how to keep moving hopeward, to keep a hopeward stance in life, it will become so easy to lose heart. We aren’t meant to camp out in a hopeless place. God wants to teach us how to hold onto hope and let it produce faith in us. How, during even the hardest of times, we can learn to walk in confident expectation and anticipation that God is able to do exceedingly, abundantly, above all we could ask, think, or dream, according to His power at work in and through us.
Hope is what gives our faith substance. So take hold of hope. Settle in your heart to keep on the hopeward journey. God knows how to restore hope and bring life where there seemed to be none before. The journey might not look like you thought it would, but if He’s in it, you can know it will be beautiful. Keep ever and always moving hopeward, my friend.
